Conlon Public Strategies joins fans and supporters across the world in remembering the life and legacy of singer, songwriter, and philanthropist DollyParton. As we celebrate her cultural and humanitarian impact, we would like to take a moment to reflect on Dolly’s impact in Chicago.
Conlon Public Strategy consultants Griselda Garibay, MBA, MPS, and Guadalupe Manriquez were proud stewards of Dolly’s mission to inspire a love of reading. Through an engagement with local program partner Share Our Spare, they helped expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) to the South and West sides of Chicago.
On May 20, DPIL received a city council acknowledgment with the help of Alderwoman Julia Ramirez (12th). Conlon’s work in the local community contributed to the enrollment of nearly 7,000 children across 19 zip codes by hosting over 100 events, partnering with 47 local organizations, and managing a local Community Ambassador program.
We find solace in knowing that Dolly’s legacy lives on through millions of children ages 0 to 5 who receive one free book each month. Dolly inspired more than a love of reading; she inspired us to lead the change we desire to see in the world.
Forever in our hearts.
