The Chicago Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration recently named the Practitioner/Alumnnus of the Year Award after Joanne Howard. The Award signifies the accomplishments of alumni of area universities with the graduate degree in Public Service/Public Administration/Public Policy. It also recognizes practitioners that have contributed to the role of public service. The award is bestowed annually to alumni and practitioners of the eight schools in Chicago with programs in public administration and policy during Public Service Week.
Dr. Howard is a graduate of Hampton Institute in Virginia. She joined ASPA while she was a graduate student at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) at the University of Pittsburgh. She received her doctorate degree in public administration from the College of Urban Planning and Public Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
She joined Conlon Public Strategies as a senior advisor in 2021. She is also on the faculty of the Stuart School of Business at Illinois Institute of Technology where she teaches the courses leading to the master’s degree in public administration.
