Chinese American Service League Raises Awareness of Challenges of Lower Income Asian Americans

Great article in the Chicago Sun-Times on CASL and Change InSight, which are improving data collection on Asian Americans. CASL is an all-inclusive non-profit agency in Chicago’s Chinatown. For over 45 years, CASL has educating youth, caring for seniors, training the workforce, placing immigrants on the path to citizenship, and securing our community’s housing and financial wellbeing. Recognizing that existing demographic and health surveys often exclude underserved Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, CASL is leading Change InSight, a coalition that conducts surveys in Asian languages to reach more communities. The coalition is the first national web platform to collect community-level data from low-income Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities on public health and socioeconomic indicators.
