Conlon Public Strategies’ Linda Shapiro Co-Authors Report on Support for Newborns in Illinois

Conlon Public Strategies’ Linda Shapiro joined a team of experts to produce a new report: “Creating a Universal Newborn Support System (UNSS) in Illinois: An Assessment of Opportunity Based on Wisdom and Experience from the Field.” This group of early childhood and maternal health advocates recommends the implementation of a statewide voluntary UNSS initiative that would offer a home visit by a nurse to all newborns at approximately three weeks of life, providing support at a critical juncture and opening the door to other services if needed. Other members of the team authoring the report included experts from the Steans Family Foundation, J.B and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation, Rush University Medical Center, Start Early, Chicago Department of Public Health, Health & Medicine Policy Research Group, McAlpine Consulting for Growth, LLC, and T. Bailey Consulting Firm Inc.
