Congratulations to the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center (GECRC), which was named 2021 Nonprofit of the Year at this month’s Glen Ellyn Community Awards. GECRC, where Conlon Public Strategies Senior Advisor Catherine Voigt has served as a board member and grant writer for over five years, is celebrating 20 years of narrowing achievement gaps and improving outcomes for under-resourced students in the western suburbs. GECRC offers out-of-school programming that empowers under-resourced K-12 students to meet state and local standards in core academic subjects; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities; and supports families of participating children. GECRC programs make space where students, their parents, educators, and community members can develop mutually enriching relationships that support and inspire learning and growth. GECRC serves an area that includes five different suburbs, and 200+ students are currently enrolled in its programs at four learning sites.
