As detailed in a recent Block Club Chicago article and video, a collaboration between the Haymarket Center, Thresholds, the CTA, and the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services is showing great promise in addressing homelessness. Haymarket and Thresholds are reaching individuals experiencing homelessness where they are by targeting outreach on the CTA Blue and Red Lines. This outreach, along with Haymarket and Thresholds’ expertise in the complex issues that often lead to homelessness, such as mental health and substance abuse, is leading to more individuals being connected with housing. Congratulations to Haymarket, Thresholds, the CTA, and the City on this successful public-private partnership and to Block Club Chicago on beautifully capturing this sensitive and important work.
