Congratulations to National Louis University on receiving $750,000 in federal funding to establish a new School of Nursing, which will increase the state’s capacity to educate more nurses and address the current nursing workforce shortage. Senator Durbin, who secured this funding for NLU, visited the university on Monday, March 18th, to announce this important funding and to highlight efforts at the federal level to address the nursing shortage. NLU President Nivine Megahed also spoke at the event, stating, “We are grateful for Senator Durbin’s generous support and advocacy. This grant allows us to open doors for aspiring nurses from diverse backgrounds, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to become part of the solution to Illinois’ nursing shortage and the inequitable distribution of healthcare resources in underserved communities.” (Pictured are Dr. Megahed, Senator Durbin, and NLU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Eddie Phillips, Ed.D.)
