UCAN CEO Christa Hamilton Discusses Violence Prevention on WTTW

Chicago is reporting historically low levels of violent crime, and community-based organizations like UCAN play an important role in that progress. In a recent WTTW News story, UCAN President and CEO Christa Hamilton discussed emerging trends in youth violence prevention, including leveraging social media. “We have to be on social media as much as they are on social media,” Hamilton told WTTW. “We have to be watching and tracking their activity.”

Hamilton also noted that recent funding losses have meant fewer people on the ground doing violence prevention work, underscoring the need to sustain strategies that are helping make Chicago communities safer.
