Congratulations to Christa Hamilton on completing her first 100 days as CEO of UCAN Chicago! According to a recent Chicago Sun-Times article, she is the first African American and first woman to lead the West Side social service agency. Founded 152 years ago as a Civil War orphanage, the North Lawndale organization serves 21,000 youth who have suffered trauma, through foster care, violence prevention, mental health, workforce development and other services. As the Sun-Times noted, Christa is a “star in the social services sphere,” and we are proud to consider her a dear friend and colleague.
