Senator Durbin Joins HHS and SAMHSA Officials to Announce Haymarket Center Grants

We are thrilled to share that Conlon Public Strategies client Haymarket Center has obtained two new five-year grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). On September 25, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin was joined by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region 5 Director Michael Cabonargi and SAMHSA Region 5 Administrator Captain Jeffrey Coady at Haymarket Center’s headquarters to announce this new funding (shown here with Haymarket Center President & CEO Dr. Dan Lustig).

The SAMHSA grants will enable Haymarket Center to expand clinical and employment services for adults with mental health and substance use disorders and to serve more adults with co-occurring substance use and HIV/hepatitis infections.

The largest provider of treatment for substance use disorders in Chicago, Haymarket Center serves about 12,000 patients a year and never turns anyone away for an inability to pay. Congratulations to Haymarket Center, and thank you to Senator Durbin, Regional Director Cabonargi, Captain Coady, and their staff and colleagues for their work to make these critical resources available to improve outcomes and quality of life in our communities.
